The city of Shenyang in Liaoning province saw the opening of the China (Shenyang) international finance conference on Northeast China revitalization on May 5, which drew participants from both China and elsewhere.

Organized jointly by the Shenyang municipal people government and Euromoney Conferences, the two-day affair is intended to introduce the city to the outside world to attract investment and cooperation.

Tristan Hillgarth, chairman of Euromoney Conferences, Zhang Yuzhong, deputy director of the China State Ministry of Commerce investment promotion bureau, Vivek Pathak, director of Asia-Pacific for International Finance Corporation and Zhao Zhongbin, deputy mayor of Shenyang, delivered speeches on the "new normal" of Chinese economy and the economic revitalization of Northeast China, with Zhao also sharing a report with the audience on Shenyang economic road map.

As the core of any economy, finance plays a significant role in capital gathering and resource allocation, said Pan Liguo, Shenyang mayor, in his address, and, referring to Shenyang, he added, "As a key equipment manufacturing base and based on its advantageous industries, the city of Shenyang is speeding up forging an internationally competitive advanced equipment manufacturing base, all the while providing precious opportunities for industrial finance development".

Pan urged financial companies to come to Shenyang and help in theory, management, products and services to increase innovation in Shenyang, and promised that the Shenyang government will spare no efforts in perfecting the city financial environment and system with the target of making the city Northeast Chinese financial center.

Wang Runjun, deputy secretary general of the Liaoning provincial government, and several Shenyang city leaders also attended the conference.
